The Canadian Committee for World Press Freedom (CCWPF) will hold its 13th annual luncheon at the National Arts Centre at noon on Tuesday, May 3rd, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.

Moderated by the CBC’s Don Newman, the feature speaker, Tony Burman of the Al Jazeera English network, will talk about “Capturing the Arab Awakening” – the world-shaking events in North Africa and elsewhere that are opening new hopes for democracy and freedom of expression.

The CCWPF’s annual free expression award will be presented along with the award for the 11th International Cartoon Competition on the theme of “Wikileaks and its creators:  villains or heroes?” Cartoons will be exhibited.
